2010 Brochure
Dear Friends,
Welcome to our new look 2010 Holiday brochure, as you can see it runs from April to December
so now you can book early for Christmas! As usual I have to thank our regular customers old and
new for their support in 2009. It has been a difficult year for many of us with costs increasing and
interest rates remaining low, we recognise this and are more than pleased to report that 2009 has
been a successful year so far as our British, Irish and Channel Isle tours are concerned. We have
tried our best to run as many tours as possible and during the season have kept our cancellation
record as low as we can. Elcock Holidays are aware that we are sometimes more expensive than
others but we do try to provide quality, value for money tours with as much included as possible.
Unfortunately that means that after much soul searching we feel that with the present economic
climate and the low exchange rate with most other currencies we cannot give our customers value
for money tours on the continent at a reasonable price.
This means that a decision has been taken to suspend all continental operations until we are out of
recession and until such time as the pound has recovered to a more reasonable level. We know
that this may cause some of you disappointment and for this we apologise especially as you have
given us your support during these many seasons. We will of course be watching the financial
climate with interest and as soon as we feel we can once again provide quality value for money
continental tours we will.
This doesn’t mean that we are not trying to give you as much choice as possible, a reduction of
European tours means an increase of choices in Britain. However when you read the brochure
pages you will see that Oberammergau is still going ahead as are all the European tours left in the
Spring Brochure, added to that we have included a mini-cruise to Spain, a trip to Lille on Eurostar
and a Scandinavian cruise with Fred Olsen. You will also find a new selection of English tours
with lots of interesting visits included and we have literally pushed the boat out in Scotland with
many of the tours visiting some of the lesser known of the Hebridean Islands. There’s even a
chance to go whale watching or enjoy a cruise to the Islands of Orkney and Shetland aboard the
MV Hamnavoe. You will find garden tours, seaside destinations and five day breaks to some of
Britain’s most scenic places. We include visits to stately homes, famous train rides, canal cruises
and much much more. As far as the winter section is concerned we are very pleased to include a
Christmas tour to Bude, one of our most popular Hotels and a Christmas tour to the Highlands of
Scotland which includes an excellent programme. To sum up I hope you will find something in
the brochure to help you forget the cold and damp of winter and help you look forward to sunnier
times ahead. The “Personal Touch is still our Motto” and your maximum comfort and safety
is still our goal. So why not browse through this brochure and make your New Year’s Resolution
be to to travel and enjoy yourselves with Elcock Holidays in 2010.
